Tristan Perich - One Bit Music

Introduction:

One Bit Music is a project by composer and artist Tristan Perich. Merging his interests in physical computing and electronic music, Perich programs and packages electronics in a standard CD jewel case. The device plays minimal glitch/dance music when headphones are plugged in. The music itself is all 1-bit and is generated by software written by Perich. The 'album' is meant to fit into the standard album-based method of music distribution: you will find it along other CDs in a record store and it has eleven different tracks and a skip button to move between them. The project was started in May 2004 and now that the music is finished it will be released in stores as-is. Ordering:

The general public release of One Bit Music will be in January by Cantaloupe Music. Limited edition, signed and numbered copies of One Bit Music in an series of 100 are available for purchase for $100. This version comes with a poster-sized, signed silkscreen print of the source-code and electronics schematic. They can be purchased online here.

"Celebrate Mechanized Labor Day" at Ask The Robot, a machine-based art and performance show at the Frying Pan. Perich will perform live drums with One Bit Music and show some of his artwork (including Cubescreen and a premier of Breathing Portrait: Joe). Installations at 6:30. Performance at 9PM.
